Get to know Scotland’s most famous Queen
Understand how one royal woman changed Scotland. Follow in her footsteps and decide what kind of Queen was she? Come to the spectacular Linlithgow Palace where she was born in 1542. You will see the new bronze statue – the first statue of her in Scotland! Just unveiled in April. She became Queen of Scots at the age of only six days.
History is brought to life as you explore the cobbled streets, ancient alleyways and coffee shops of Linlithgow.
Next you will drive westwards to visit the peaceful sanctuary of Inchmahome Priory on the Lake of Menteith. Mary, Queen of Scots was hidden here as a child. You will call for the small boat which whisks us across the Lake in just a few minutes.
You may wish to finish the day with a visit to the beautiful Loch Katrine in The Trossachs National Park and afternoon coffee and cakes, as Mary might have done!
