Day one you travel through the historic Kingdom of Fife and see the ancient Falkland Palace and famous golf courses of St Andrews. Then along the rugged Angus coastline where Scottish independence was declared in 1320. Visit Arbroath Abbey. Overnight in the harbour of Stonehaven at the historic Ship Inn with harbour views or Bayview B&B overlooking the sea. Day two visit the spectacular Dunnottar Castle, then cross Aberdeenshire, a culture steeped in sea fishing, castles, open countryside, coastal and country villages, and historic gardens, to arrive at the traditional fishing villages on the Moray coast where you can taste some delicious seafood and enjoy the 17th century harbours.
Day three you head westwards to the majestic Highlands where you will visit the Culloden Battlefield, site of the last battle on British soil (1746), through Inverness and to Loch Ness, home of the famous Monster. Your journey takes you onwards to Fort Augustus where the boats cross Scotland through the Caledonian canal. Stay overnight at the head of Loch Ness at the Lovat Hotel or next to the canal at the friendly Holt B&B. Day four head to Fort William, adventure capital of Scotland.
You then travel through spectacular mountains, glens, rivers, lochs and sea. Serving the very best of Highland produce and some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. Visiting the quiet corners of this stunning area you will have the opportunity to visit one of the smaller islands such as Kerrera for a short coastal walk or Easdale to hear about the time when this tiny island supplied the world with slate.
Taking a visit to Oban, the bustling ferry port to the Hebrides, enjoy the amazing views from The Manor House. On the final day your journey will take you through Inverary to visit the fairytale Inverary Castle, then to the beautiful Loch Lomond and views of the majestic Ben Lomond mountain overlooking the national park. Returning to the city early evening after seeing some of the best of Scotland Revealed.
