Imagine our surprise when the global fashion house of Dior chose Scotland to launch a recent season of stunning clothes - Dior Cruise 2025. One of our favourite places to visit, Drummond Castle Gardens, was the venue.
When we think of fashion in Scotland we might think of our wonderful, iconic kilt. Worn with pride at weddings and special occasions, it is known throughout the world as truly a Scottish item of dress.
The setting was stunning and the fabulous fashion in the show was completely unique.
Fashion at Drummond Castle Gardens
Dior chose well for this amazing Dior Cruise 2025. Drummond Castle Gardens is one of Europe's and Scotland's most important and impressive formal gardens. The film of this unique fashon show is extraordinary and well worth watching. The bagpipes at the 18 minute point, provide a spectacular soundtrack in the latter part of the video when all the outfits are shown to great effect thoughout the gardens.
Kilts have always been high fashion, enduring though the years, after they were banned in 1746. This event merged Scottish landscape, Scottish music and global high fasion of 2024. Mesmerising and impressive indeed. #diorcruise
Maria Grazia Chiuri
Maria was well aware of the emotional impact of the bagpipes, on Scots, and non-Scots alike, when she chose to open and close the show with this special sound.
"Scotland is an important reference in the fashion world" she said before the show "and I wanted to interpret it in a different way.....Textiles are a big part of our job - what you can do with them - and the changes you can make through them".
Tweeds, tartans, cashmeres and Argyles. The show made us proud to host this wonderful collection and for the world to be reminded that it is not only kilts which can look great in Scotland.
