In 2018 The Strathspey Railway celebrated 40 years since a group of committed volunteers got together to save this magnificent service. Pick up the train in the bustling town of Aviemore, deep in the National Park. Perhaps order an afternoon tea to enjoy as you admire the stunning views from the carriage.

You will enjoy choosing between the Officer's Saloon with its beautiful wood paneling and 1940's style fittings. This carriage offers exclusive travel and the Steward will bring you delicious morning tea or coffee. The special Chairman's Saloon or Director's Saloon also offer a chance for celebrations or simply enjoying the Steam Train ride with friends and family.

Take a look at the delightfully restored Waiting Room. Even in the cold winter days the Victorians would have enjoyed the coal fire while they waited for their Strathspey Railway train to transport them south or north. Today the Steam Train takes a leisurely 20 mile tour from the delightful Highland town of Aviemore, to the terminus at Broomhill.
Finish your day out with a fantastic visit to the Loch Garten Nature Reserve. Surrounded by ancient Caledonian Pine forest, this excellent visitor centre is home to one of Scotland's most well known Osprey pairs. If you are lucky enough to visit when the chicks have been born you will see them being fed by Mum, or if you are very lucky, will see them learning to fly.
